Want to travel to a different time period? Is there a part of the world you have always wanted to visit? Is there a topic you always wanted to find more about? Here is your opportunity for all of adventure. Choose a new book; any book, you have not read before, will do. You will be using this same book for many assignments after today. If you choose a book and you change your mind that's okay. Choose another one until you find one you will be so excited about. If you hate reading post a comment below and I have tons of suggestions for you. If you need a suggestion for a good book, post your age and some favorite past books and I can post some suggestions. Once you choose a book complete some or all of the below activities. If you would like to post your completed assignment for contributions, accolades or suggestions register on www.edmodo.com. When you register and it asks you for a group code enter: 2qfiwj. This will take you to a site where you and Student Lead Learning followers can post your assignments and comments.
Activities for Newly Chosen Book:
1. Before you start reading, start a notebook solely for reading. Call it your reading journal.
2. Start a new entry, in your new journal, by exploring why do you think you might like this book? What about this book interested you? What information did you use to choose this book? (book review, title, cover, table of contents, etc.)
3. Read as much or as little as you would like and write your feelings about the book. Are you happy with your choice? Why or why not? What did you like or not like about your choice? Write about some of the thoughts you had as you were reading. Make some predictions about what it will happen as you continue reading.
4. Post below about your experience reading or on edmodo (see above for more information on edmodo).
