If you are a parent or teacher searching for a curriculum that will simultaneously excite and challenge your learners you might want to follow this blog. Research shows if you provide students with choices and options they are more engaged in their learning. If you or your child are out of options and ways to explore you might want to follow this blog as a way to stimulate ideas or as guide on how to explore some of your own ideas for learning. Student Lead Learning philosophy is we teach children and young adults how to think, not what to think. Students will learn to explore and discover their own theories and passions, with a little guidance. Our philosophy is the learner will lead the way, while the adults they are surrounded by, will be the facilitators. All learning will give choices in reading material with accompanying suggestions in exploring the reading further.
The blog is ideal for 4th to 10th grade students, but can be modified for older or younger ages. All assignments can be modified to a student's reading and writing level. You will not need more than a pen, paper, internet access and on occasion the local library. I invite comments and suggestions and updates on how the lessons worked out. I also invite you to post your biggest challenge of the day, week or month on the challenges tab.
